Looking for a Jobber Alternative? What Small Crews Should Compare

Compare a Jobber alternative by crew cost, daily workflow, mobile use, integrations, and switching effort. Use this checklist before moving your business.

By Shookio TeamOctober 15, 2026

If you are looking for a Jobber alternative, start with the reason you want to leave. Maybe the plan you need costs more than you want to spend. Maybe your workers struggle with part of the workflow. Or maybe you are still comparing your first few options.

The best choice depends on the work you do every day. A lower monthly bill helps only if the replacement can handle the jobs, records, and connections your business relies on.

Published by Shookio. We sell software for small service crews, so we have an interest in this comparison. This guide explains what to test in any option, including ours. Product details checked October 15, 2026.

Before you switch

Write down your main problem, your must-have features, the full cost for your team, and what you need to move. Then test a complete job from request to invoice.

1. Name the problem you want to solve

“I want something better” is hard to measure. “I need four people to access jobs without exceeding my budget” gives you a clear test.

Choose the two or three problems that matter most. They might be difficult scheduling, too much copying between apps, a feature you cannot get on your current plan, or a process your workers will not use.

Also list what works well today. That is easy to forget when you are frustrated. Your current app may handle accounting, customer history, or payment collection in a way a new tool cannot yet match.

2. Compare the cost for your actual crew

Start with everyone who needs access: the owner, office staff, crew leads, and workers. Ask how each platform counts those people. A plan that includes five users may count the owner differently from a plan that includes five additional workers.

Check monthly billing against monthly billing, and annual billing against annual billing. A monthly equivalent paid for a year up front is a different commitment from a subscription paid one month at a time.

Include required add-ons, extra users, and any payment-processing costs relevant to you. Keep temporary promotions separate from the regular price you expect to pay later.

Shookio’s current monthly crew plans

Plan Included access Monthly price
Solo Owner + 1 worker $29
Starter Owner + 3 workers $49
Crew Owner + 6 workers $69
Pro Crew Owner + 10 workers $89

Shookio’s pricing page lists the same core features across these plans, with the main difference being crew size. The owner’s worker access does not use an additional worker seat. Check current Shookio pricing and Jobber’s current plan options for the team and billing terms you need.

For example, an owner and three workers fit the listed Shookio Starter allowance. That does not establish savings against Jobber until you identify the Jobber plan and features that meet the same needs.

3. Run one complete job through each option

A dashboard can look great while hiding a slow everyday process. Use the same sample job in every app you try.

  1. Add a customer request and the work address.
  2. Prepare an estimate if the job needs one.
  3. Schedule the work and assign a worker.
  4. Open the assignment from the worker’s phone.
  5. Change the appointment and update the job notes.
  6. Record completion and prepare the invoice.

Notice where you need to retype information or leave the app. Ask a worker to try the steps too. Their experience matters because they will be the person updating jobs while you are handling other work.

If your jobs start with an estimate visit, test that separately from the actual service visit. A booking request, an approved appointment, and a confirmed job are different stages. Make sure the software handles them the way your business needs.

4. Check the features you depend on

Two platforms can both list “invoicing” and still work differently. One might meet your needs with a basic invoice. Another may be necessary if you rely on particular payment options or accounting connections.

Need What to test
Scheduling Can you assign, move, and review jobs without losing key details?
Recurring work Can it handle your repeat patterns and changes to individual visits?
Worker access Can workers find their work and update it from their phones?
Accounting Does your required integration exist, and what data actually moves?
Customer communication Which messages are automatic, and which require action?
Payments Which methods, fees, and payout terms apply?
Leaving later What records and attachments can you export?

Jobber advertises features including QuickBooks Online and Xero sync, routing, online payments, and customer communication tools. Availability varies by plan or add-on. If these are central to your business, confirm an alternative can cover the same need before moving.

Do not treat a CSV download as the same thing as an automatic accounting connection. Do not assume an app supports offline work because it runs on a phone. Ask for a demonstration of anything that could stop your business if it is missing.

5. Judge mobile use with the people doing the work

Have a worker find an address, read the instructions, and update a job using their own phone. Let them try without walking them through every tap.

Watch for confusing menus, hard-to-read text, and steps they are likely to skip when busy. If the crew works in places with weak reception, test the app under those conditions before relying on it.

A tool can be comfortable for the owner and frustrating for the team. A short trial with both views gives you a better picture than a sales presentation alone.

6. Plan the move before you cancel anything

Make a list of the information you must keep: customer contacts, open estimates, future appointments, recurring work, unpaid invoices, job history, and attachments.

Ask the current provider what you can export and the new provider what it can import. Keep a secure copy of the records you need. Confirm how recurring services and open balances will be handled so they are not forgotten or duplicated.

If you test a few jobs in the new system, choose which system controls customer messages and invoices for those jobs. Running both without a clear plan can send duplicate reminders or bills.

A safer first test

Start with sample data, then a small set of upcoming jobs. Check the full workflow and any required connections before moving the rest of the business.

When staying with Jobber may make sense

If your team uses Jobber confidently, your required connections work, and the cost fits your budget, moving may create more work than it saves.

Before leaving, check whether a different plan or a change to your setup solves the problem. Switching is most useful when it fixes a specific issue you can demonstrate.

When Shookio is worth considering

Shookio is worth testing if you want to organize jobs, workers, schedules, and time cards alongside estimates and invoices, and its crew-based pricing fits your budget.

Start with the live demo. Check your must-have workflows and ask about any required integrations before paying. A smaller bill is valuable only when the software supports the way you work.

Common questions

Is Shookio cheaper than Jobber?

That depends on the plans, team size, billing term, and features you compare. Shookio publishes monthly plans from $29 to $89 for the crew sizes above. Compare the complete setup you need on both platforms before calculating savings.

Can I move all my old records?

Do not assume so. Export and import support can differ by record type. Confirm what happens to attachments, job history, recurring work, and unpaid invoices before you cancel your existing service.

How should I decide after a trial?

Return to the problems you wrote down at the start. Did the new app solve them? Could your workers use it? Did it preserve the features you depend on? Those answers are more useful than the length of a feature list.
